How is the NLP helping reduce logistics costs across the country?

India’s National Logistics Policy (NLP) plays a pivotal role in reducing logistics costs by creating an integrated, technology-driven, and infrastructure-ready supply chain ecosystem.

One of its primary goals is to bring down the logistics cost from the current 13–14% of GDP to 8–10%, aligning India with global standards.

The NLP promotes multimodal transportation, enabling seamless movement of goods across road, rail, air, and waterways, which reduces reliance on cost-heavy road transport.

ULIP connects various ministries, logistics providers, and port operators, enabling real-time data sharing, faster clearances, and reduced paperwork — directly cutting administrative and operational costs.

The policy also encourages consolidation of shipmentsstandardization of logistics services, and use of technology like AI for route optimization and demand forecasting.

Collectively, NLP’s strategic framework ensures cost-effective, transparent, and faster logistics operations nationwide. Read more……
